By: Tzinberg & Asociates, P.C.
The reason you have received this calculation is:
Effective January 1, 2023, state law, House Bill (HB) Number 2168, allows the Division of Employment Security (DES) to
redirect monies to the Unemployment Automation Fund from Missouri employers to provide funding for automated
systems, and associated costs, to improve the administration of the state's UI program.
As you are a Missouri rated employer liable for the first quarter of 2026 unemployment insurance (UI) contributions (taxes)
you received an Automation Adjustment calculation.
How is this amount calculated:
Missouri's rated employers liable for first quarter unemployment insurance (UI) contributions (taxes) will receive an
Automation Adjustment calculation if they had taxable wages reported or have reports due for the twelve-month period
ending the preceding June thirtieth.
The amount is calculated annually and is based on a percentage to not exceed 0.020% of an employer's total taxable wages
in that twelve month period. Employers with reports still due for the twelve-month period will be assigned an estimated
amount based on a predetermined number of workers multiplied by the taxable wage base for the quarter/year being
estimated.
How this may affect your Unemployment Insurance account:
· This law does not impact the calculation of first quarter taxes owed by employers.
· Automation Adjustment amount will be redirected to the Unemployment Automation Fund.
· The redirected amounts will not be included in rate calculations or FUTA certifications.
